The Hunt, the Blossom, the Mother

Choreographed by Hayley Barker

The Hunt, the Blossom, the Mother was a dance inspired by the mythological stories found in the art and architecture at Stourhead. It retold the story of Persephone and Demeter, exploring the reasons behind seasonal change and the joy of spring returning.

Choreographed by Hayley Bowkett, the dance was performed for visitors as part of Stourhead’s spring programme.

Camilla mentored Hayley during her volunteer placement at Stourhead while she worked towards her MA in Heritage Management. As mentor, I provided support and challenge around the planning and delivery of heritage programming, including the use of audience data, approaches to story interpretation, and the importance of impact evaluation.
